A supermarket has had to withdraw bags of monkey nuts from sale because they did not have a 'contains peanuts' warning on them.

Maureen Jenkins, director of clinical services at Allergy UK, said: "It may seem barking mad to require bags of nuts to carry a warning on the back that they contain nuts but it makes sure that there is no doubt that a product contains an allergen."

Especially when the bags don't contain any nuts.
