I never thought I could manage the peak district hills, fairly hilly where I ride around Wentworth.
Last weekend rode up man nick, pin dale, monsal head , froggat and more. Wentworth seems pretty flat now.
Discovered a liking for hill climbing. Plenty to try around bradfield, it's added a new dimension to my cycling.

I know the feeling about hills, we don't get much practice on them in Suffolk either. My last visit to Jersey saw me yet again failing to get up one of the steeper jobs they have there. However, my bikes are all set up for local rides and the highest ratio I can get is generally 39 front, 25 rear, which gives a lowest gear of 41 inches. What are you hill-dwellers using to get up those slopes?

I'm not so scared now. Yesterday was our last day of hills in Peaks. Did a 28 mile loop from Bradwell through Tideswell then up Wormhill to Peak Forest then along to Mam Tor, down Mam nick (will try going up Mam Nick next time) through Edale and back to Bradwell. Loved it and now back in Norfolk missing hills - although am spending the afternoon on the beach so can't complain. Great though and looking forward to another trip up again ASAP.

A compact double here. 50/34; 12/25. I very occasionally wish for a triple, but the groupset I have suffices for everything. My Winnat's Pass issue is more a fitness thing!

I live in Wales but still found Peak District hard work. Its as if the road builders didnt consider following the natural contours of the land, if theres a hill in the way the road goes steeply up and over it.

That's good to know. I kind of had the Peaks down as my entry level hill practice. Maybe not then. I would be interested to know though how the peak climbs such as Lodge Lane, Mam Nick etc compare to climbs on Way of the Roses. Any thoughts anyone?

Worse climbs in the Peaks than WOTR.
