The Persuaders.
I was just about to agree with you then I realised that I was getting mixed up with The Protectors.

Technically the CSI programmes fit into this category as although they weren't terrible shows, they aren't going to be as good as classic Who theme tunes.

Radcliffe and Macone (6Music) were singing the praises of this tune a while back... but Maconie couldn't fathom what 'the lightning tree' had to do with the series... I couldn't be bothered to email the Rad/Mac show and tell him that the lightning tree is in the yard of Follyfoot Farm and in early episodes, Dora is shown several times watering the lifeless stump in the hope that the tree might recover. :okay:

Interceptor - ITV's short lived "action" sequel to Treasure Hunt.

One of those very-odd late 80's TV programmes where, on paper, it probably sounded a decent show, but in reality it just didn't work. 45 minutes of Annabel Croft getting way too overexcited, a wonderful pantomime villan (the Interceptor of the show's name) flying round in a helicopter in a leather trenchcoat and two clueless contestants who pretty much just had a breadcrumb trail to follow but still managed to get lost and cock things up every show.

But the theme tune was just spot on. Same guy who did the music for Treasure Hunt and Crystal Maze.
