Fakes? As a keen radio amateur I once got the chance to have a good rummage around one of 1970s vintage during a lecture at Bletchley Park some years ago. Crude, yes. Fake, I don't think I dreamed it.

A friend of a colleague operated one in the late 80s. We met him during one lunch break and he showed us round the van, the electronic equipment in which certainly looked real to us, and both of us are electronics graduates.
