Thicker tyres for Triban 3

I'm after some thicker tyres for my Triban 3 to be better for canal riding.

Any suggestions that will fit onto the standard rims on the Triban?

For good value and robust try Bontrager Harcases in 700 x 25c

Roll well, don't cut too badly good p*ncture resistance and a generous 25c too. Slightly hard riide but very cheap!

Otherwise try Shwalbe Marathons, more costly and heavier and possibly slightly slower rolling but have a light tread and again are very durable.

700 x 28c probably
If it was my Triban ... 25c is more than enough for canal paths.

25c and 28c will both fit for sure. I don't know what others reckon but I think a 28 is a bit on the fat side or the absolute limit for a standard Roadie rim?,

Have you got plenty of clearance on the frame? 28c would be very tight on my OH's road frame.

The link is to Marathon Plus, which is even more puncture resistant than a standard Marathon due to the band under the tread.
However, this gives the tyre a higher profile, so the OP will need to check clearance around the frame.

If I go with these, will I need to change inner tubes to 25c?

I think they fit a range of tyre widths, don't know for sure though as I have never actually changed one myself Inner tubes only cost a couple of quid anyhow, and if you have done many miles, might be worth doing any how if changing the tyres

For canal riding, you might be better with a canoe
