Things about Christmas you positively hate

Mrs SJ has a niece who sends a card every year with a passage from the bible printed on it, even though I am an Atheist who detests religion and Mrs SJ an agnostic.

We haven't sent them a card for twenty years but we still get one every year.

today didn't work out too bad at all - helped with the dinner this morning, went and collected the elderly ones - was perfectly behaved through dinner and post dinner chit chat

and then at 4 o clock my wonderful wife took pity on me and said I could go down to the workshop - got a couple of hours in working on the table that should have be ready for xmas

couple of beers tonight so its been OK - getting nervous about the morrow - family start to arrive to stay

I still haven't and now don't expect to receive a Christmas card off the neighbour I sent one to. I'm not mad, more wondering why. I'm going for the best option that she received so many she forgot I'd sent one, plus she's getting on a bit so she probably thinks she's posted one through my door. 🤔 Ah well, if I'm still here next year (and her as well) I'll post another one, but one of those 3 quid types, not a cheapo one and see if she still doesn't send one back. 🧐

Yes, it is a comedy, and many millions of people across the country enjoy and laugh at it.

I imagine though that a Youtube "best of" will not appeal to anybody who isn't already familiar with the series, as it will all be out of context.

I dont hate xmas just indifferent really, if someone 'happy xmas's me i'll respond in kind and not headbutt them hee hee I was musing yesterday as to whether xmas could be classified as a 'cult' [after all its only a numbers game] and any aberrant non believers need to be rescued from themselves for the good of the herd. Getting abusive and using words like 'grinche' for those that stray is also a characteristic of an intolerant and fearful cult.

I just think of it as 'Yuletide', a pagan festival celebrated for hundreds of years to mark the passing of the shortest day.

I sent a text message to my sister yesterday morning wishing them a happy Christmas. Still no response.

Until I learnt sense, I used to send cards to my niece and nephew every Christmas and birthday and put money in them, and most times I never got any kind of acknowledgement.
