Things I have been overtaken by ....

After seven and a half years of trying to take myself relatively seriously as a cyclist, I thought it might be time to own up to the following things that have overtaken me at one time or another.
In no particular order, here are my top 3:

(1) A shed. (There must have been a tractor in there somewhere, but all you could see was rotting timber and felt roof). Tried to fight it off for a mile or two, but it burned me off on a country lane just after the brow of a hill.

(2) A house. (A great big mobile home being delivered along the A38). Blew me away, almost literally.

(3) A jogger. Not my finest hour, winching myself grimly up Frocester Hill when a jogger sauntered past with a cheery greeting. (B*stard!).

Can anyone top those? Come on Cyclechatters, it's confession time.

My back wheel. I braked hard for a Labradour on a wet road and then saw my back wheel come past. A few nanoseconds later I also saw my arse.

An early ride in full Lycra and on a road bike I was overtaken by a postman on a bike with full panniers, I could see parcels sticking out from the top of them.

2 rabbits in a field running parallel to the road I was on.
They saw me coming and decided to have a race they won, easily

I used to see a postie riding to work doing some kind of interval training.

He'd be slow in a really high gear for a couple of minutes then nail it for a bit then repeat.

It was quite awkward as my normal riding pace seemed to coincide with his average so we'd pass each other a few times..

Picture the scene - I've got me shaven legs with the false suntan best shorts and top and a young guy wearing jeans and a hoody passes me by on his MTB.

I braked hard for a Labradour

Gotta like this despite (or because of?) the bizarre spelling of labrador. Not every N.A. word ending with "or" needs a "u". However, from now on I am going to call them labra-dowers.

By a class 08 and three carriages(on low loaders) headed for the K&WVR.

I was undertaken by a small shoebox sized vehicle with green rear lights.

It was at this point on LEL when I realised I really needed a nap at the next control.
