They were handy for sitting at your desk looking really busy when in fact you just wanted to have a little nap.

One of my favourites was a 'Daisy Sonic Gun'. It produced a shockwave so intense that it could knock over balanced lego bricks from across a 12 ft room! It could also kill wasps and moths in mid flight.

Unfortunately, I discovered that it could also deafen children ... I accidentally fired the gun close to a boy's ear and his dad ended up banging on our door and having some angry words with my dad. That incident almost ended up with the police being called but my dad defused the situation by smashing the gun in front of the other irate parent!

I've never seen one of them. I would have loved one as a kid. Hell I'd like one now.

I just found evidence of them being sold on eBay!

There was a spring loaded plunger inside the barrel, kind of like what you would have in an air rifle, only it slammed up against a stop in the bulging part at the end of the barrel and there was no pellet. It made a really loud BANG! when it was fired. The effect of it seemed to be a combination of a blast of air with added shockwave!
