One or two that I don't think have been mentioned..
Insulting each other - women don't do it generally and seem to really mean it when they do. For us it's just part of our communication
Swearing - similar to above. A mate likes playing golf with me and pals more than wife cos his wife doesn't like him swearing. It doesn't seem so much to us.
The stereotypes - they all apply. This whole thread is about stereotypes / generalisations as it's talking about the male population as a whole, so there will always be exceptions. Plus your experience of the world, the number of people you know and what they do is likely to influence what you think. As a youngster I was very open minded and pro people doing what they heck they liked - part of my separating myself from my parents / self identity creation and natural open mindedness. I do like a woman who exercises in a vigorous (some female friends only cycle in a pootling kind of way) really into it kind of way, a woman who has no airs or graces about getting right into decorating or gardening or may be more serious diy - I am not entirely sure why I do but I do. It's just like when Clarkson interviewed Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise he asked TC if he got excited when a woman says 'V6 with twin overhead cam' (or whatever it was) when Diaz was describing her latest release.
However in recent years as I've approached and now entered middle age I have found more and more stereotypes exist; perhaps as I've met more people over time and got to know some better. It may be reasonable to call something manly / womanly if the majority of that sex indulge in that activity and the other do not - there's also something about it seeming a natural fit. So there will always be exceptions - I like cooking and am good at it and there are some people (though not v many now) who consider that womanly). Stereotypes that seem to me to hold true on some level - a predispotion for that sex:
women liking pink on some level. Prefering to decorate - the dainty variety - painting detail, detailed clothing, pretty flowers.
men - digging the garden, putting out the rubbish
women - caring for children / people generally
men - more comfortable on the whole talking about machines and things
men - don't talk about relationships much
women - do like to talk about relationships and tend to be open and honest with each other and ..talkative. I've a 2yr niece who can talk the hind legs off a donkey!!
Mind now I am defining men v women more than talking about stereotypes and..manliness...
manly - don't talk a lot, period. And feelings.....what are they?!
manly - use one bottle in the shower...two max! I've been into the shower at a friends and wondered which was the f'in shampoo.
Agree. Women are much more naturally modest.

Compare Victoria Pendleton in her interviews to Usain Bolt. He is super confident, she often talks if self doubt. Both excellent athletes in their fields but showing very different gendered feelings. Part of this manly idea is being active, sporty etc. It's not socially considered womanly robe sporty if we're talking about stereotypes. The norms in society drilled into people can affect differences.
