I did mine on line, much more civilized, the shopping with the MRS I delegated to my oldest lad.

I am not very organised with my gift shopping. I tend to think of what I want to get a person, find out online who sells it locally, go straight there to get it and return home. The start again with the next person on the list.

I can't hack the hours on end traipsing from shop to shop comparing colour, price, extras, for each and everything on a long list before buying anything.

Losing your senza hearing is not such a bad thing, Fnaarther Christmas, but I hear that 'warm ones' are better! Buying a bra for the missus is a sure fire way to make your presents felt...allegedly.

I used to leave it to Christmas Eve .

The panic that sets in knowing you have to get everyone something concentrates the mind incredibly . I found I could then get what I wanted very quickly . Now I have to spend weeks going round the shops with GF thinking of "Would this be right for so-on-so?" "Do we spend more on so-on-so than so-on-so?" "How can we get the same amount of presents for both grandchildren?"

For her I plan over the months and weeks listening to her and spotting things when we go round shops. I then spend about 1 hour and get everything . Last year I ordered some Chloe body lotion on-line. 2 days before the big day it still hadn't arrived so I went out and bought some more and wrapped it. Next day the ordered stuff came so she got 2 lots .

Ha! the joys of being single....no being marched around Lakeside, bluewater, no endless waiting outside the ladies room, no 30 minute hunts for car parking spaces...

+1 on that, easiest way to do it, its even better when you have grown up sons, you can delegate the task of accompanying the MRS round the shops.

Going to do my gift shopping tomorrow - alone - should be a breeze.

I've been off work for a few weeks and it seems i've been dragged out shopping every day. I've taken to doing Wookie/Chewbacca impressions. Nothing fancy. Just the wookie call. But the effect is improved in a big, furry hat. I know it seems a little odd but i'll stop soon.

We have Westfield within a ten minute walk. I'm just not brave enough to venture into that particularly hateful type of retail hell-hole at this time of year. I have been there twice since it opened and it is quite horrid.

I have reserved some stuff at Argos in Hammersmith. On the way home I will buy a copy of the Spectator and go to the pub. Two pints of lager, each with a Jameson's chaser, should put me in the Christmas Spirit.

Damn it. I deserve to be rewarded for becoming a one day a year shopper. I might make the chasers doubles...

How about as a last-ditch attempt to end the shopping nonsense, drop your kecks in the butchers and do the last turkey in the shop routine - you're either going home or to The Big House.
