We used to be able to buy tools to do jobs which did! Now we buy tools that look like they will but won't!

ah but the old tools used to cost proper money. If you still pay proper money you get proper tools. Let's say a a good quality chisel cost 10 shillings (slighlty before my time as I wasn't buyin chisels when I was six). Pay 50 new pence for a chisel and it may not even be up to the task of opening paint tins and certainly won't be any good for woodwork. Pay £30 for a chisel and it will likely be nice kit. I suggest £30 is an equivalent sort of amoun to the 10 bob

My 80 something MiL was telling me the other day how she used to go away for a hosteling weekend with just 2 shillings and sixpence in her pocket, ie 12.5p. That was sufficient for the bed and all food and cafe stops.

Likewise the Modellers Den in Bath closed a few years ago. The only time I go to Bath now is to the Hospital.

There's a proper model shop about five miles from me.

He has a Facebook group and does some great prices on there.

When my eldest lad was small, about five, I brought him a large bucket of Lego, cost me a fiver, and kept him and his brother occupied for hours, one of the best fivers I've spent.

A friend of my Father's brought me some Legos when he went to Switzerland. They about got worn out. I,then my nephew, then his daughter had them.

When i were a nipper im sure i remember going train spotting at Bescot station with my brother, and we could also go and walk round the freight yard too.
