I don't know if it is because I am a physicist or because English is not my first language, but to me when I hear chain stretch I think of the side plates getting longer, like when you stretch dough. Of course that is definitely not what happens as the chain wears.

And as for "chain suck", we really must stop using this misleading term.

Why misleading, the chain gets "sucked" back onto the chainring by the hook like worn teeth. I think it is a good image.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.

It misleads people into thinking that the underlying mechanism is suction. We can't have that. ;)
Suction: the act of removing air from a space resulting in a lower pressure in that space, either causing liquid, gases, or other substances to enter, or causing two surfaces to stick together: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/suction

"Chain slap" is another one. I think this probably Ok.

Yes, I can't disagree with that. Chain hook(ing) instead?

Back to grinding . . .

Found this in our discussion in 2017: https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/when-to-replace-cassette.215443/
And this was useful (imo) from @Yellow Saddle : https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/why-a-worn-cassette-cannot-damage-a-new-chain.255700/
No pictures though
if your chain separates or breaks under tension is it permissible to use the term "snapped"
I recommended the use of "parts". This avoids "separated" which could easily imply deliberate action, and is more useful than "breaks" because it describes the effect of failure.
;)

I still can't believe that there are people out there who take shortcuts with chain maintenance. Do it properly!

Sheldon is/was such an amateur. Any true professional would matchmark their chain components to ensure that they were re-assembled correctly.

Over 100 miles in to my first use of Fenwicks Professional……

The drive train noise (Or lack of it) is barely any different to when it was originally applied, mess is right around zero. Colour of chain / sprockets looks good / clean 👍

My first impressions are very-very good. There may well be better. But I’m pretty sure - even after this short initial test - this is the best I’ve used to date.
When I do "lubricate" a chain, I do so with car motor oil that I found along street / on public place, dumped there by magnificent people that came from other places in the world.
I once had a mishap though, there was something else in it, and my chain developed some GRRRR smell, so I.... returned the cannister to the road. The smell took longer to go, though.

The thing is, after that professional removal of all the dirt, the chain will have become longer under tension, since the dirt between the mating surfaces, prevented it.
Resulting in measuring more wear after such cleaning, than before.
A joke, sitting on top of a joke, one could say...
