This is Cyclemagic. Just how did it happen?
In response to a growing number of requests, we’ve decided to host a seminar on Saturday September 15th to explain how we’ve developed from a coffee shop conversation into one of the most diverse and unique community cycling projects in the UK.
Along the way we’ve had many successes, a few failures, the odd crises and also some of the best times that money simply couldn’t buy. We’ll tell you how we’ve done things, what motivates us, what has worked, the mistakes we’ve made (well, a few of them!) and some of the things we wish we’d known at the beginning.
In our thirteen years we have, among other things;
Organised four human powered vehicle festivals
Set up Leicester’s first bike recycling project
Organised Leicester’s first cycling film festival
Run a cycle courier business
Set up a special needs cycling project
Worked on films, TV programmes and theatre productions
Opened the 2007 Tour de France in London
Hosted a Guinness World Record for Penny Farthings
Run several hundred cycling roadshows across the country

Working with volunteers
Working with the media (and making the media work for you)
Taking bike recycling one stage further
Organising events
Partnership working
Ways of developing a cycling culture in your local community
Building a relationship with local bike shops and the cycle trade
Being totally self financing and sustainable
The cost will be £20 per person with lunch included (all proceeds to our special needs cycling project) and you’ll also have the chance to try out some of Cyclemagic’s more unusual bikes. On the following day we have our annual Cycling With Style bike ride, so why not join us for that too and make a weekend of it?
Spaces are limited so please contact us and arrange payment to secure your places. If there’s sufficient demand we will consider moving the event to a nearby community centre and increasing our capacity.
