You do any multiplication before addition. And don't do the operations left to right. For example 2 + 3 × 10 = 32. It's 3 multiplied by 10 then add 2. It's not 2 plus 3 = 5 times 10 giving 50."multiplication takes preference over addition" - what does that mean? (Maybe I'm still wrong.)
No.So
5 + 2 x 10 = 70.
yes it is.No.
5 + 2 × 10 = 5 + (2 × 10)
= 5 + 20
= 25
Which isn't the correct answer.

So, I am still wrong. Well there's a surprise.You do any multiplication before addition. And don't do the operations left to right. For example 2 + 3 × 10 = 32. It's 3 multiplied by 10 then add 2. It's not 2 plus 3 = 5 times 10 giving 50.
(5+2) x 10
70

Now look at the third line again ( the one where the answer is 9) and compare it with the fourth .No they aren't.
10 + 10 + 10 = 30.
10 + 5 + 5 = 20.
5 + 2 + 2 = 9.
