If I was dealing with actual Macca's products, it would be clear. You wouldn't mistake 2 packets of fries for one

Show the actual thing you are measuring, or represent it accurately.
Of course the problem's crap. It's designed to be crap. Let me see if I can find that other even crapper one...

Why not use brackets to make things clear? Try picking apart a Basic programme written in the early 1980's and you might see the obvious benefits. Maths isn't just for kids to follow stupid standard curriculum rules to satisfy OFSTED.
