After I had my operation to reverse the bag and create a pouch, an op that was unsuccessful, I was lying there in the Hospital one night. I had been given my own room, so all was still, quiet, peaceful. I lay there in some discomfort looking out the 6th floor window as darkness gathered outside, the lights of the surrounding area twinkled at me, the summer sky, with a few whispy clouds, was a most exquisite blue colour, the type that only happens after dusk.
I was there contemplating the ramifications of my failed surgery whilst listening to the radio. For some reason I had never really bothered with BBC 6 Music before, but I put it on purely out of curiosity. It was a show by Gideon Coe (I think) and seemed to be a wide variety of different things (as I now know 6 Music to be like). I listened to the pleasantly ecclectic stream of music, wondering why I had never listened to this sooner, when, Jon Hopkins's 'Immunity' came on. I was hooked, and remember saying out loud 'That's Beautiful!' as it made me relax even more.
Of course, I was drugged up, and although it is a nice, chillout piece, it isn't exactly the most exciting thing ever. Nonetheless, this is what I think of when in hospital that time!
