Are those the same well-trained artic drivers that go through the M1 road works 50mph limits at 60mph+ in the middle lane shunting cars out of the way with tailgating, flashing lights and horns, then swerving in and undertaking when they don't get their way?
And no they're not the ones with PL or LT on their plates, most of these are British.

So, to all the posters on here who are slagging off lorry drivers.... excatly what do you expect the driver to do

fly-by-night tipper truck driver, tired and stressed out of his mind, trying to fit in as many trips as possible in the middle of a busy city. On major roads in the Dales the quarry tipper trucks are driven dangerously fast and will pass scarily close, such is the pressure on them to fit in more trips.

You've answered your own question there. Not that.

But really, I'd like a video that's presented as advocating shared responsibility not to focus exclusively on how I need to stay away from these lorries because they are too dangerous to possibly be driven safely while there's anybody within twenty feet of them.

I would like a video that does not tell me to get out the way of an overtaking truck. Some of the points in this video are reasonably well made, unfortunately a load are victim blaming propaganda, the good points get totally drowned out by the rest of the crap.

Is there a secret channel somewhere, where lorry drivers are shown videos made by pedestrians and cyclists about how not to kill them? I keep seeing ones like this one, about "sharing" the road, but it's solely directed a cyclists, no advice for drivers.

Also I love that we should move into the gutter when a truck is behind us, even though "when a HGV is passing you, there may be a gust of wind that will affect your balance"

If there's anything useful in there it's lost in the dictatorial style of delivery:

You need to...
You must ..
Pull back..

It's an almighty abdication of responsibility by the HGV driver. He knows the dangers his vehicle presents so HE needs to drive it carefully, especially around those road users who have the least protection.

Ouch - come on, the guy was given a script.

Now I'd be interested in the guy being given a script that targetted those incompetent, dangerous *******s who drive trucks with scant regard for anything but their FB status or the tidiness of their cab.

Stop fiddling with the tacho, put the phone down, stop tidying the cab, stop drinking alcohol, get a licence and insurance.
Can you stop beating you wife then ........

Well if you want to accuse all then feel free to be using general sweeping statements It wasn't a Lorry driver that drove into me deliberately yesterday.

Yes there are some that do drive awful. But not all.

He's a lorry driver promoting nonsense in the guise of road safety advice. I don't know about him but I wouldn't endorse something I didn't believe. That particular link has now been viewed around 4000 times so its message is being spread and its not helpful.

I would invite you to come and have a chat with my dad ( now 73) who in the interest of road safety and not injuring OTHER people disregarded training and steered round the idiot who pulled out when he was less than 30 ft from them .

He broke his back when he hit a high kerb and he was raised out of seat and smashed down back onto it.

He was 43 .

But of course all Lorry drivers are scum aren't they. Never give a shoot about anybody else.

Easy to say when you sit in your ivory tower . Have a good evening being all judgemental.
