And I will be helping, or watching.

Don't forget that back-to-back Alien fest we talked about....

"Get away from her, you bitch!!"
I think we need a 'nuke the entire site from orbit' smiley. Maybe one that makes a little mushroom cloud...

Feet up this weekend for me - off to the outlaws caravan. But, we need to get out barge boards painted/fettled and I'm not very good up a flexy ladder. Looking into hiring a mini cherry picker/boom for a weekend and doing it that way - got most of the materials, just not the legs for a ladder 5m up.

The wood needs some patching and replacing in places, and I don't recon a decorator would be happy to do that.

down the LBS tomorrow morning to pick up new brakes (avid shortys) then watching daughter while GLW takes son to a party - champs league final, where I become German for the night (bratwurst, sauerkraut and german beer for tea)

Sunday hopefully get on bike if chest is still not being weird - stabbing pain way over on left hand side, breathing in feels really hot - am fearing an infection of some sort) then off to the zoo with family and another family...

Doctors on monday lunchtime so I get a 2.5 day weekend

... in London with the wife for a weekend away to celebrate our 10th Anniversary.

Well, it ended up being a fantastic weekend:
  • Hotel was round the corner from the Eye (we had the Champagne experience and only had to share with a couple of other people - usually it's up to 30 odd people at a time in the capsules)
  • Met up with my brother and his partner (who we rarely get to see) and crossed town, through Trafalgar Square (with a quick stop for a photo of his lordship's column) for a meal in a restaurant where you order your food via a touch-pad in the corner of your table, with the menu projected onto your table-top / plate. Appealed to the geek in me ... lol
  • Afterwards took a walk to Leicester Square, shared ice cream with my brother and partner, and then headed "home" for the evening
  • Next day walked over Westminster Bridge, photo's aplenty of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, St. James Park, Horse Guards, then stroll down the Mall (most of the way) with a quick stop at the Queen's gaff for some more photo's before waddling off up Constitution Hill and up and over past Hyde Park Corner and down through Knightsbridge to the Natural History museum (without stopping at Harrods for a carrier bag ... lol).
  • Back through Knightsbridge and round the back via Belgravia to Pimlico for a quick tea and then off to see Wicked at the Victoria Apollo - WOW! Amazing. Absolutely loved it - made the weekend!!! (and I have to give a big thanks to the staff at the theatre who couldn't have been more helpful and polite in assisting us).
  • Sunday was a bit quieter to start with until we hit Oxford Street for some touristy tat shopping to take home for the parents ... lol - it was incredibly busy for a Sunday, but then we're used to the much less busy streets of Hull - maybe it's like that all the time on Oxford Street?
  • Loaded up with tat we headed off home for a restful Monday (knackered but happy ... lol).
So, all-in-all a cracking break.

Taking my mum away for the weekend. We lost Dad in November and I think it will do her good to break her routine and have a change of scenery. I'll miss my bike for 4 days but taking my trainers so can squeeze in a couple of runs.
