BoaB you could google "Roast Turkey Recipie".
The reason you have to be careful if you put the stuffing in the turkey is that cooking times will be given as 'so many minutes per such a weight'. If you put the stuffing in the turkey then you have to add the weight of the stuffing in when you calculate the overall cooking time. Given that you give the impression of not being an experienced cook, you might be better off cooking the stuffing separately. You do not want to undercook poultry of any kind.

I used to go to my in-laws for Christmas dinner. In Quebec, apparently the stuffing is made from potatoes and sausage meat and some unmentionables, this is then stuffed into the turkey (bum end) and held in place with muslin stitched to the skin of the bird. You may not be able to imagine this but the muslin looked to me like a diaper and what it contained further added to the illusion. I was able to get past my disgust after one or seven sherbets but the following year I would start thinking about it from around Guy Fawkes day.

We've always had a big gammon at Christmas. So I can't help on the turkey front. However, the rifling it at passing light aircraft gets my vote. That's what I'd do.
