I'm not saying that I'm trying to go as absolutely as quick as possible, I'm jsut saying, why do the leaves have to appear now?? right when I get my first set of SPDs and need as few distractions as poss...

P.S. Apparently global warming wouldnt be an issue if the trees didn't shed leaves - perhaps GMing trees is somthing we should be looking into??

yes, but arent the majority of trees in the UK NOT evergreen?? surely we should be planting more evergreens, although that would men replacing all the non evergreens....

I know what you mean about leaves and the wet, there's a few good islands on my route that i can really lean into, and it's great but when it rains i go a lot more slowly and looking for oil on the road.

Ther's also a tight left hand turn that has a a load of leaves on and a few drain covers to look out for there like ice when wet, back end went once but still kept upright

Used to work in Kenilworth and cycle between the Earlsdon area of Coventry and Kenilworth, this time of year the amount of leaves on the Kenilworth road used to be lethal, particularly round by the memorial park, some mornings used to do the right turn out of Earlsdon ave at walking pace. Wet leaves are right up there with black ice as something to be very wary of.

Are you for real? The seasons are an integral part of the UK's temperate climate. The UK's trees are mainly deciduous not the spruce and pines which typically grow in the colder Scandinavian climates. Autumn is a beautiful time of year as is each season in it's own way. The UK has a wide range of beautiful trees that rely on shedding leaves in autumn ready for the winter and then re-growth in the spring. We don't need huge plantations of sitka spruce just so you can tear along cycle paths without being unseated because of leaves on the ground. Just ride more carefully and be grateful for the seasons. Autumn this year has actually been quite spectacular.

Have you been smoking those leaves mate?

One winter night, years back I leaned right over on a tight corner on a bit of an adrenalin rush and met my first encounter on black ice.

I went straight over, bits of lights everywhere, and smashed my knee up - limping for three months after.

Laddered a new pair of Ron Hills as well.

I had an accident on Friday. Car turned cross me but I reckon I would've stopped in time had it not been for wet leaves. My wheels weren't moving when I hit the car, I was skidding on the damn things.

I would just like to thank the Croydon/Bromley? council workers who used leaf blowers to transfer all the wet leaves from the pavements and verges into the road ;)

Whoa! the leaves nearly had me this morning. Unusually I rode through the park this morning, there's a cycle path. As is the way with cycle paths it has a tricky 90-degree bend on it, and soggy leaves.

Kept it up though, just.
