Bought myself a new computer at Aldi, thinking "It won't change the way I ride, I'll take it easy for the first day and gradually build it up, I can handle having a computer this time".

Arrived at work 45 minutes coughing up my lungs with an average speed of 17mph (OK 16.9mph) over 13 miles and spent the next 20 minutes slumped at my desk moaning quietly to myself. I know it's not that fast but at the previous point I threw the computer away I was stuggling to average 16mph over 6 miles

One day I will learn self control

Felling a bit rough at the moment and was taking it easy this morning resisting commuter racing UNTIL some numpty jumped a red that I was waiting at, to turn right across the flow of traffic . 1 mile later and he had been put in his place !

Just try not to crash because you're messing about with your computer whilst riding! I bet that happens all the time. I won't let my kids get them for that reason.

Remember that those computers aren't waterproof, at least they didn't used to be. A lick of silicone sealant in the seams helps.

My Cateye enduro 2 has been out in all weathers all year for 3 years now and is as waterproof as they come. Never had to worry about sealant.

My commuter's cheap Aldi computer - not the wireless one, has been waterproof tested recently, and it is.....

Hmm, just testing some new MTB 1.2" 350g slicks prior to my new wheels arriving later this week...a fair amount quicker than my old 1.5" 600g ones... pushing a bigger gear -let's see how the home run goes...

The only problem with the 1.2's is the MTB looks anaemic, and there is now a huge gap between guard and tyre !

I've only ever bought the cheapo ALDI-type ones, as I think they're more than good enough for me, and I've had a couple of them die when they get wet. I mean wet, not a light shower.

The silicone idea came from a friend who's cheapo computer died after it got wet.

Ha ha! Glad to hear it Ranger! Been there too - and glad you've changed your sig line as it was never true!

My computer has a cadence sensor in it and yesterday it slipped so I didn't have any feedback other than how I felt. Odd how you begin to rely on things without noticing.

It odd how you keep looking down for it when you don't have it on the bars...

I was a bit like that when I bought a computer which had a little arrow that pointed up if your average speed was increasing and pointed down if it was decreasing. Only the up arrow would ever do.

I usually keep the computer on actual speed and distance and only look at averages, time etc. when I get back home, even that drives me on at times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
