Thoughts on first bike??

hay i'm a regular mountain biker but have been wanted to get into road cycling for the last couple of months. Any recommendations on a first road bike. I've had my eye on the Dawes Giro 400 (http://www.evanscycles.com/products/dawes/giro-400-2012-road-bike-ec035286#select).

Don't know anything that bike, although Dawes is not held in the same regard these days at it was 20 odd years ago.

The Triban bikes from Decathlon are being almost universally touted as the best VFM bikes for your budget.

why not try a decent 2nd hand bike to make sure you like it first before splashing out and then finding you didnt like it after all
