Threaded steerer tube too short

hi I'm trying to put a new fork from one bike to another but the steerer tube on the new fork is shorter than the old one doesn't protrude past the headset and was wondering if there is an adapter to extend it as I don't want to have to buy new forks any advice appreciated

By how much is it too short? If it is just a small amount a headset with a lower stack height might do the trick.

Threaded steerer's are cut to suit the frame.
You'd be better off getting new forks as getting the old ones sleeved & extended will cost about the same if not more!
