If it's any comfort, the few times I've had bad run-ins with people, I've never seen them again. This is from someone who has a very short commute with only a few opportunities to vary the route. All the best, and don't let them bully you off the road!

Beechcroft Road, for those who don't know it, is a quiet road with traffic calming humps. It's not a sensible road to use if one is in a hurry.

I'd have thought that there would be a CCTV camera outside Ernest Bevin school. If you can tie the time down to a few minutes either way, why not ask them? Otherwise, why not walk to school for a couple of days, and see if you the same driver passes you by. If he does, get the number. If he doesn't it probably means he's not a regular user of Beechcroft Road.

Scouser brought up the idea of carrying a D lock "just in case it did kick off" and the copper warned that to do so was illegal. That was a friendly warning.

I was wondering when some one would notice this. Thank you for pointing it out. But coppercyclist did not make his "friendly warning" reply to scouserinlondon post #24 but went on at post #31 to quote it directly at me as if I had suggested it which I had not. I suspect Scouser posted it in tongue and cheek mode and coppercyclist bit deciding to wear his copper hat but at the wrong person - me. How often has this mistaken identity happened?

But then your view of the world does seem to be somewhat skewed towards believing everyone is out to get you. Do you ride your bike any more?

It will be difficult to put this in a way that doesn't come across as offensive, but it isn't my intention - unless your persona on this forum is nothing like you IRL and it's just a way of exorcising whatever negative feelings you've been developing - I would really recommend talking to a specialist.

I should ignore this but just want to let you know that you are being rather personally unpleasant.

There was nothing about anyone being nicked or whatever, just a basic point that someone who carries something that they intend to use as a weapon is guilty of possessing a weapon.

I quoted your post which is (IMO) aimed at his response as a policeman rather than actually reading what he wrote.

I wasn't even referring to any of your earlier posts in this thread, or the one which seems to have got under your skin, just the comments in that one post which I quoted.

I'd suggest that you are again reading stuff that isn't there, just as I suggested earlier, but you'd probably (wilfully) misinterpret that as well.

There was a case some years ago of a guy towing a kiddie trailer gesticulating at a driver who'd cut him up. The driver reversed over bike and trailer leaving the parent badly injured and the child with a permanent disability. The driver was full of remorse, no previous, didn't know what came over him, etc. There was a similar incident with a father and son riding two abreast and a driver reversing into them after an altercation. IIRC at least one of them was killed.

As someone who's towed trailers and ridden tandems with kids these things stick in your mind. While ever such people are behind the wheel of a car they don't need baseball bats to do damage. My advice is to ignore them, take their registration and report it to the police saying you believe they were serious in their threat.

Well, no sign of the friendly neighbourhood australopithecine this morning. I did travel 10 minutes earlier than usual though (there's nothing quite like a bit of father-son bonding in the pram shed in the pouring rain waiting for the nursery to open!). Also my new bullet cam arrived just in time to be fitted rear-facing to the trailer. Hopefully a complete waste of money in that it will never be needed to provide evidence.
Anyway, I have reported the incident to the local safer neighbourhood team, not much they can do realistically with the scant evidence I have (video neither use nor ornament - it's amazing how short it all was, it felt so much longer at the time!), but who knows, perhaps he is a known logal thug with form?

<off topic> Contour HD on the helmet or handlebars, and I just bought a Bullet HD for rear facing as it was quite a bit cheaper. Contour gives good results (when not too far away!), don't know yet about the Bullet though I would say the Contour is easier to use.
