And in most cases the bike shouldn't be on the footpath.
but once it's off the footpath, it's no longer a problem. Same with speeding. A car shouldn't be speeding, but once it's slows down, it's no longer speeding. The car with no MOT is a problem. It can't be driven home, it can't be left on street. What else can they do?

Pavement parking by lazy inconsiderate drives is more dangerous than pavement cycling! Blocking off safe access to wheelchair users,.prams or people carrying wide bulky objects is far worse than a cyclist riding the pavement(considerately)! Start with inconsiderate pavement parking nobber MP,then we'll discuss pavement cyclists later!

Unless you're a constituent, I really couldn't give a toss about your tedious views on any subject.

You've got to post the whole unedited email thread now.

Can't we assume a Peterborough address and bombard him with spam constructive criticism of his idea?

He looks a TW@T and a half:

Just need someone to knock him down when he crosses the road without doing the Green Cross code.

Hello Mr Jackson.
Your recent comments regarding cycling have been widely reported in the cycling media, I'm sure that was part of your aim. I would like to say as a keen cyclist that I would totally support your idea of "3 strikes" and your out, if you were to extend this to motor vehicles who in brake the rules also. Motor vehicles as I'm sure you know kill and seriously injury in excess of 2500 people year, cyclist don't cause anywhere near those kind of problems. This would go a long to improving people's safety on the roads and make it more likely that cyclist would feel safe there too and less likely to be on the pavement.
But, I'm sure you would never suggest the same for motorist as that would hit the core Tory voter.
All that being said, I had a brief google of your name before sending you this e-mail, and I was shock and disgusted to see the article below. You appear to be just another nasty Tory on the take from the hard working tax payers of this country. You are a far bigger problem to this country than any pavement cyclist will ever be.

Shame on you.

An excellent idea. Let's put it in tomorrow.

Hmm, what about the logistics... I'm going to need to know when I stop that cyclist that he's been spotted twice before. That needs some sort of nationally managed computer system that we can access. So we need to create a new government agency. Let's call it the CVLA - cycling vehicle licensing agency. Now we will have to insist that anyone riding a cycle applies for a licence. There's no test obviously, so you just apply and get it. Now when those naughty cyclists are stopped, I can update their 'licence' with 'points' and maybe take their bike.

Of course, the whole system will cost tens of millions to put into place and run, but we can recoup that by charging those teenagers for each 20 pound BSO we take.

Except we won't. Because the people who do cause those problems won't get 'the licence' and I won't have any power to tell them they must.

Is it just me or is this an MP with an axe to grind, who is engaging mouth before brain.
