Where do you put yours? Mine seem to fit snugly into the axle, so I just leave them in

Mines are permanently attached.
Do you have one for each wheel? Or a removable one that you can switch between wheels?

There are many different through axels, ones with built in levers (like what I have - both different though - front is Rockshox, rear Formula - common on MTB's). Some don't have levers, and use a hex key.

Mine are an allen key that lives in with the tyre levers & spare tube in the puncture kit

One MTB uses a hex key at both ends, the other has a permanent lever on the front but needs a hex key for the rear. I always carry a multitool in my backpack.
