I would rest it, if I was you. Braking and changing gear would put a lot of pressure on it.
Have you got a support strap to wear from the chemist or amazon.

Better off staying off the bike for a few days if you're ok with them take same Paracetamol and Ibuprofen. Which should help to settle things down.
Don't waste your money on supports they provide little if any benefit.

Pop on a bag of peas wrapped in a teatowel to help with pain and any swelling.
If not better in a few days, get to GP or local walk in centre for a check over

Carbon fibre... LMAO!!!
It could be done I guess.
Have a ride around the block or something?
You don't reeaally need to change gears unless going uphill and as long as the speed is slow, the area quiet and you keep your wits about, then you don't reeaally need to brake either.
It should serve the cycling gremlins for a while.

I dislocated my finger on Friday. Was just getting on the bike, somehow lost my footing and landed awkwardly.

Trip to A&E, a quick suck on the gas, and the Dr just yanked it back into place.
I don't recommend it; it's quite painful.
