Hilly circuit around Settle, roasting hot day, nice pint when we got back to Settle though! Just enjoying another cold beer outside the van before working up the energy to shower....

Morning
Too hot to sit in the sun on the patio already. We now have a pair of 🐿 attacking the bird feeders now.
Just finishing off second coffee then it will attempt a session on the board before it gets too hot. Later is the dentist.

So for the privilege of having a scale and polish plus a filling, all of half an hours work. It was the bargain price of 277 quid.
I blame Wiggle.

Jeez, think you need a new dentist. I had pretty much exactly the same thing last month for £156. Feel like I got a bargain now - though not at the time.

Fortunately I will be able to claim most of it back on Mrs W works health insurance although she no longer works.😉

Aaaarggh! Can't get the Mo-Jo for getting my shoot packed for holiday.

I'm just going to get drunk and put it in bin liners in the boot of the car.....

On second thoughts I would not advocate this approach. Now I'm just drunk and nothing is packed. 🤔
I believe there was a fundamental flaw in this plan. Can't quite put my finger on it.....

Evening folks,
I too packed the car for going on holiday this evening, thankfully I did that before having a drink. I was appreciating the chuck it all in bin bags approach though. Up at SG o'clock tomorrow and heading for the Eurotunnel before a day of traversing Northern France. Supposed to be scorchio everywhere I believe.

i got an srm in 2010, for shiny bike, 130bcd spider, bb30, it's still working perfectly today, sub-zero to 40+, rain, snow, ice, dust, never a problem

really the only downside is the batteries aren't rechargeable, so i need to open it up every 2-3 years, though that's also a good chance to clean the bb etc., check bearings and re-grease

the more recent ones are rechargeable, but a lot more often than every couple of years

The one I'm looking at is the Shimano Dura Ace 9000 crank arms model. Tells me the batteries are new, but I've not checked yet whether that means DIY replaced or factory job.

Will have a look I think, seems a good deal and the crank arms are a bit shorter which I'm keen to try. My current DA 9000 cranks are 175, and am using a Stages LH side power meter on them, which works ok for my needs. The SRM one is - unusually - 165mm arms.

Shorter crank arms = slightly higher pedalling cadence (apparently).
I am stuck on my 175's. I bought a compact for hilly stuff and the Etape Caledonia. It had 170mm cranks arms and I hated it. Old dogs and all that.

it'll depend on the srm model, afaik the older ones like mine are based on an srm spider that has the same fittings as the groupset manufacturer's own spider - shimano, srm, campag, etc. - so any compatible spindle/cranks can be used

i.e. on mine the bb30 spindle and cranks are the standard sram red ones, the srm bit simply uses the same crank-spider attachment as sram's own spider, which is good as if something gets worn/damaged, it's just a standard sram part

so if you've got matching shimano bits, chances are you can just swap the cranks over

if you're competent with a soldering iron (and have a fine-tipped one), battery replacement is simple enough - i've done mine a few times over the years - i posted some pics on this thread last month... https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/s...urd-for-world-domination.302887/#post-7416774

there's even an ifixit on another model... https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/SRM+Power+Meter+Battery+Replacement/130226
