Graham - if you're going to cycle without shorts, you might be better with boxer type kecks rather than jockeys. If the rash is round the leg creases, it may be caused by chafing from sweaty leg seams, particularly if you then wear them for the rest of the day.

You'll sweat just as much in boxers, of course, but not on a moving part so to speak.

My advice would be to clean the area thoroughly with a mild baby soap and water and carefully dry without rubbing. Sleep with either no shorts or maybe loose boxers.
During the day wear no tight Y fronts but use loose boxers or nothing and the area will get better ventilation less sweat and less bacteria. Should clear up in 3-4 days max.

The more lotions creams and gels and stuff you put on the less your skin is going to breathe and grow new skin and the longer it will take to clear up
