I haven't paid for a haircut since the mid 90's, and have no intention of starting now! My current hair clippers (Philishave C486) have served me well for over 10 years and although the clippers still work, the charging adapter has given up, and it seems that replacement chargers are not available (plenty of shaver leads available, but not for clippers).
Any other DIY barbers out there who can recommend a good set of clippers for around £50? Wahl seem to get a good reputation, and I like the look of these.

I know this seems a bit OTT but I have bought and can heartily recommend the Wahl Belina clippers.

They are a professional set as would be used by a barber. I paid £115 for mine and given the average cost of getting my barnet cut (I do it weekly) then they will save me a small fortune.

I went for them as I wanted some wireless ones and reviews for any wireless clippers around my usual £50 mark were patchy.

I bought a wahl.taper for maybe £40+. Works well and looks same as the ones in the Barbers. Previously had a remmington rechargable one - utter crap and went in the bin. Should have taken it back really

Got one of the Babyliss DIY clippers with the round blades and guide £25 on sale in Sainsburys recently. They do the job but are a bit faffy to not miss the odd tuft and not as quick & easy as advertised. 6/10 at best.

50 quid?
you seaside villagers have more money than sense..

Tesco cheapos for me...and I got them in a sale:okay:

I remember the good old days in yer seaside village, the barber was also the fishing tackle shop...two birds with one stone..
Tried the cheapo route years ago (probably when I stayed up "the smelly wee Port", coz they're all tight up there ;)) but all it did was pull hair out rather than cut it, and took 3 times longer than a decent set

I've been using some cheap Babyliss clippers for the last 4 or 5 years. They've been great. I'm very interested in the cordless Wahl clippers though. At the moment I have to run an extension lead into the bathroom. I'd really like to not do that.
