After spate of recent close calls have decided to call it a day until after Chirstmas break.

Had car spin round from drive way reversing out in front of me with out looking, then last night coming round a round about idiot pulled out in front of me. I had hi viz on and all lights flashing. After a week of idiots the red mist descended. I was abusive something I have never been and dont want to be. I have two lights on front one of rear, is this enough lighting plus hi viz jacket on. Both lights are cats eye lights seem pretty bright to me I dont want to become another statistic

You could have searchlight bolted on the front of your bike and still drivers wouldn't see it as it requires them to actually take care and look properly.

And without sparking a hi-viz debate. Car drivers will not see 'hi-viz' at night, they will see a washed out yellowish sodium street light colour as you would any other colour at night.

I also think that many drivers are pre-occupied thinking about Christmas shopping, food supplies, etc that they seem to be paying even less attention than normal. Either do as you say, and have a break until it is all over, or cycle with even more awareness than you usually do.

I disagree....if you are well lit, they do see you...what they do though is make a poor judgement call on your speed and think they can get past you.
I've seen this wi thte T6 lights..they think you are a motorbike, so will wait..until they realise you are a cycle, and then chance it. This is the case on side turnings and roundabouts

In Cambridge I only cycle a little bit on the roads where I am forced to as there is no suitable pavement or shared use path to ride along. When I see a car approaching on a side road I switch my Max D light to full power 1600 Lumens and aim it straight at them. No one pulls out on me since I was knocked down in 2011. For rear I have an Exposure Red Eye running off a triple cell which is piercingly bright and last week acquired a Cateye TL 1100DLR rear light which is also very bright. I don't have any of my lights on flashing as this is a nuisance.

I completely disagree, only last Friday driver drove straight onto a RAB where I was turning right whilst he was looking left chatting with the passenger
No amount of lights would have made a difference as he never bothered to look.

I've seen people do it to emergency service vehicles with full lights and sirens on.

Obviously not, it's a general cannot be arsed to look properly or blind as a bat road user problem.

Always assume people lookingto occupy your space haven't seen you unless making eye contact with them... that applies regardless of what you ride or drive. It has served me well for 30+ years on motorbikes and cars now so I'd say that there is something in it
