30 mins by car or 60 mins by bike.

I try to cycle in twice a week. And I do it cos:

a) it's good for the environment

but mainly

 it's like "double benefit exercise." It takes me only 30 mins longer but for spending that extra 30 mins I get 60 mins exercise. Seems like a good way to fit in soe good quality exercise in my busy life.

10 minutes to work (downhill, very fast) and 30 minutes on the climb home. 60 minutes by foot/train. So I can save myself an hour an twenty minutes in a day, not that bad really.

I catch the train and it is much quicker by train. I get off the train at Polmont or Linlithgow and cycle back to town from there. It would be a 15-20 min train journey and a 3 min walk, My cycle ride is 45 min or 1 hour dependent on whether I get off at Linlithgow or Polmont. Driving to Glasgow is just not an option - horrid, horrid jams on the M8 and no where to park.

Almost 8 miles into North London for me. It takes around 25 mins by bike and around 30 mins by car. The longest it has ever taken by car however was 1hr 25 mins!!!!!

Current location:
40 - 45 minutes by bike
30 - 35 minutes by motorbike
40 - 60 minutes by car (allegedly, I don't have one)
80 minutes by bus (and that's a direct service)

Future location (next Spring):
3 - 4 minutes by bike
15 minutes on foot
I suspect the motorbike will seize up....

Across town, on bike on the fastest route it's 15mins, in a car it used to be about 25mins. This is for 4 miles, obviously it's the traffic. If I take the rural route on a cycle track it's more like 25mins and 6 miles on bike. The shortest it'll take on any public transport/walk combo is about an hour. So like many points with this cycling thing, I wonder why I wasn't at it 15yrs ago.

Quickest times - Bike: 16min; Car: 12min. Often take a longer route home, depending on the weather ;) would never take a longer route home in the car!

Yip, my first job was only about 15 minutes by car if I got up early and left before 6:30 and avoided traffic. I didn't drive much in the peak hour but it take around 45 minutes and that was 11 years ago. I do wonder now why I didn't cycle more. I think one reason may of been at the time I don't think the train alternative to the Forth Road Bridge was available, it is now for when the winds are 40mph plus.

Bike - 20 mins, car/motorbike 20 mins but if there is a crash en route it has taken oven an hour to get to work in the car in the past.

I do it for the love of cycling, to keep fit and to save money ;)

Where I have to commute to varies so had to say, but if I'm in the main office then its:

Car - probably 20 mins - never done it as don't know where I would park, well probably more by the time I parked on a side street a mile or two away.

Bus - 30 mins

Bike - 16 mins but that is reliable give or take 1 or 2 mins depending on lights and traffic, the other options vary much more.

10-20 mins by car - very rarely these days.
15-85 mins by bike - variation only because I sometimes go via a scenic route (for the fun of it..)
20-30 mins by trike - slow and heavy and can't filter.
