There are so many things that link us together I despair at those trying to divide us.
Like many activities cycling is full of jargon and patronising attitudes that can smack of elitism about things that are entirely non-controversial like bells on bikes and those spoke protectors dismissively called dork discs, and that's before we get to the really contentious stuff like disc brakes or bike-packing.

If it wasn't so pathetic it would be funny.

I've just finished his book and found it very interesting.

It's the story of his bike trip to Santiago (and back) with snippets of its history interspersed with memories of his life and especially his brother.

Painting as he goes he has a very relaxed attitude and spends a lot of time "in the moment".

For anyone new to touring or folks jaded of checking off big distances or mountains it's a refreshing read. There are highs and lows, much gratitude for simple things and lots of serendipitous events.

My Kindle version includes some of the paintings but it's not the ideal method of appreciating them 😊

And his bike got stolen when he got home!!!

His trip around the UK can be followed on Facebook at the moment (as well as all the other platforms mentioned above)

I may buy the book on that recommendation Hobbes, I too don't worry about racking up miles in a certain time and worry even less about speed but prefer to point in a general direction and see what happens. Yesterday's serendipity of being offered an escorted your around the Battle of Britain exhibits is a good example.
