C Paint is part of coreldraw X5 graphics suite which I mainly use for doing sketches of things - creating png's to put in word documents - cheap adobe illustrator - but my preferred option

PaintShop Pro is basically the equiv of Photoshop but a few years behind. So unless you want really advanced stuff and I mean seriously advanced special effects etc, then I have always found Corel's version to do what I need but I came from a Jasc PaintShop background originally so know it well, where as I struggle to even resize a picture in Adobe PS
