You will love it. I do. Like others have said ride on the freewheel to get used to it, then do a couple of short journeys on the fixed... you will never go back.
It comes with toe clips I believe so will leave those to start off with. I've got Looks on my roadie but don't really want to limit my use of this to one pair of shoes. I want it to be my 'jump on and go' bike for shopping, commute, pub etc as well as some social fun rides!
Yes, kind of fell in love with this and went off brief! oops! Might have to go clip on mudguards and a backpack! Or n+1 again. . .
I ride clips and straps on two of my bikes, on the fixed I've straightened and rebent the clip so I can ride clips and straps in steel toe capped shoes and commute in ordinary work clothes and shoes.
These seem to have 6 Allen bolts, but I'm sure you can find larger cogs somewhere to fit. 50:15 is a nice ratio to time trial on, but a bit heavy for everyday use.
Thanks but I love it,spend half my life down the Mile End road sprinting to avoid the idiots in the newly created pinch points,so these gear ratios are fine and not too much of a problem and yes that's them, not really any hills so no bother. The other fixie has a lower gear ratio.
