I felt the cruise that recreates the route is in particularly bad taste. What next: the chance to relive 9/11 with a flight from Boston to NYC?

The Dunblane recreation tour.....

Oh yes, that was another point that irked me... the passengers on that Titanic memorial cruise had dressed themselves like a bunch of muppets and Italian ice cream salesmen. I was disgusted at their lack of taste, disgusted and shocked. Would they dress like that for a funeral or memorial service? It just proves that the whole Titanic story has become a commercial circus.

Get your commemerative bullets and replica revolver here sounds sick when put like that. Maybe that's because people are still alive that remember this too well

Given that they have stumped up £8000 each for a place, and many of them seem to have a connection with the original voyage, aren't they much better placed to say what is acceptable on the cruise than you are?

Not at all; they looked like a circus to me and I'm free to express my opinion.

Mind you I would accept that the media probably only interviewed the more outrageously-dressed amongst them. I'd like to think that the majority of the passengers were behaving with dignity.

I was watching something on the news the other night the about one of the members of the band that kept playing till the end and a steward who were both from the same School in Dumfries.

The school pupils were all doing some sort of re - enactment and were all dressed up in silly costumes like the people on the cruise.

Anyway, the kids were all saying things like

'Oh I think they were so brave!'

and so on.

But I couldn't help but think that they didn't have much choice and they must have been monumentally pissed off at the situation they we in.

In short, the conclusion I came to was that all it showed was the complete ABSURDITY of the situation!

With disasters like that, is it any wonder the First World War ended up the way it did?

Also, I remember reading a story of a Priest who was on the Titanic and who was also a photographer.

He sailed from Southampton, but was called back to wherever he was when they reached Cobh. He was pretty irritated at missing the voyage to the U.S, but, in hindsight, I bet he must have been pretty grateful he did get off when he did!

As a photographer, he captured quite a lot of absolutely priceless images on board!

Now THAT is what I call luck!
