TLR tyres are so tight ....help please

If the problem is pushing the bead off the rim initially, tyre levers don’t help as you can’t get them under the bead. I struggle myself with this on tubeless tyres, two options stand on the tyre and pull up on the spokes which rarely works for me or get a piece of wood but it against the edge of the rim and give it a whack. That always works.

I've got a tyre lever with a very pointy end ( came with some tubeless stuff I bought) that is specifically for getting a well seated tubeless tyre off the rim.

Would a pair of mole grips do it. Expand, put over tyre, pinch together.

Levers are the answer but don’t over do it. I asked mine to do too much lifting and dented the rim! You still have to do everything possible to get it into the well.

Both thumbs pressing on the tyre just above the rim to release the locked in tyre beads. Work your way round. Too late now, but if you intend to use tubes buy the version of the tyre designed for them.

Set them up tubeless then you can use tyre levers with no tube to pinch. Failing that keep working round, even with my week fingers Ive never had a tyre which after a few rotations failed to go over the rim.

Working round doesn't immediately appeal BUT I think it must be tried. Thanks forthe suggestion.

I've been successful with some tight fitting tyres ...

Using three slender alloys tyre levers.
Working opposite to the valve, insert the first tyre lever, but not yet attempting to lever off.

Then insert the second tyre lever, no more than 1.5 ins apart, then insert the third, again, no more than 1.5 ins apart.

Then using hand and forearm, lever all three levers at the same time and hopefully the tyre comes off.

I will try with new levers but if that doesn't work I will revert to the tubeless solution. I understand the fluids self-seal more readily nowadays. Given the cost of tyres I am reluctant to immediately discard the current TLR tyres and replace with "tubes only" alternatives.

I bought one of the tyre glider, sliding type levers, I think it’s great especially at putting tyres on.
