You have my upmost respect, I am down in London near Monument on a course, I get down to London a few times in the year on courses or work so have formed an opinion that you must all be slightly mad but there is no better way to get around London, sometimes it looks utterly terrifying and the amount of information you need to process just to go anywhere on foot is incredible, sensory overload for a suburban/country dweller like myself.

Taxi's, Trucks, peds, other cyclists, all the other things to look at and distract and why do Londons Bikers (of the engined variety) feel the need to accelerate like they are in the TT between lights, I saw one wind his Kawasaki Ninja flat out from first, to second and into third yesterday, must have been hitting 80, 90 or even 100 mph, have seen them batter their way along cycle lanes, bus lanes at high speed, are there many accidents

Saw a grumpy female cyclist collide with a ped stood on the side of the road, ped slightly to near the side of the road, cyclist too far in to the side, so difficult to call but the cyclist was very rude.

So, will go back to Cheshire feeling very appreciative of my doddle of a commute !

Thanks J4CKO - steel and noise is a matter of course for London riders - it makes a refreshing change to be out of town on the quieter roads where only the rabbits are wearing iPods or, as seen last Saturday, a Mrs Tiggiwinkle tippy-toes her way across one's path.;)

Hey J4CKO, welcome to the wild streets of London where it's a battle of the fittest!

I think if you can cycle in London you can cycle anywhere, basically you cycle with the mentality that everyone is out to get you!! Motorbikes are always a problem and are often to be found in cycle lanes and ASL's, but unless there is a crackdown they will persist to use them.

As for accidents, you only have to read some of the threads on here to get an idea of how many, but thankfully as a ratio of the number of cyclists it is probably relatively low.

Hey J4CKO, it doesn't look so bad from the inside! When I watch other cyclists mixing it with the traffic in central London, I think that looks dangerous. But when I do it myself, it seems (most of the time) to work.

Would be interesting to have someone film your journy, it would look pretty different then the way you see it, even if you film it yourself with a cam on yer head

Yes I know sorry.;)

I wasn't tying to brag I was just trying to explain why sometimes I don't always or really feel up to the commutes, looks like im not the fittest here.Even been off the booze for 5 months and it's made a little bit of difference.

I just wish I could race these people.

a lot depends on the weather and how you feel. but i guess it does get boring if you do the same route every day. ;)
