I enjoy riding in London. I accept that it takes a bit of getting used to, but I think it's a matter of accustoming yourself to the noise and the frequency of traffic lights. I don't think it's dangerous - and the figures bear me out on this.
I once got a tow around Woking town centre. A friend spotted me on my bike so pulled along side and we had a little chat.
Not really that safe, but at least it was someone I trusted - rather than some random driver. Only downside was, I didn't really fancy going that fast until I chickened out and I could have gone faster by just pedalling .
Maybe I'll get him to tow me around a car park somewhere haha.

Agreed. Mind you, it's nice without the traffic sometimes. Last night, the bizzies shut off Parliament Square and surrounding roads (The Tamils were expressing their right to freedom of speech). Mind you, this was only for motorised traffic.
So, I was able to ride up Whitehall and part of the embankment in complete peace. Absolute bliss. It should be like this all the time!!!
