+ if you ride down there a lot you know which side to cycle on, but if your a new commer, this is going to be a bit confusing at the start!

Yup. My bad. I don't recall the pinch being an issue at the time, so perhaps I need to sharpen up my awareness a little. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Anyway, I think this whole spin off discussion is a pretty good indicator for someone sorting out the direction signs, tbh. Without getting all anal about it, at least 3 of the prior markings would suggest I was in the correct position

A point well made by the posts to date, I feel.

Perhaps it is all a bit of a storm in a teacup though. Friendly nods were passed between us and the oncoming cyclists, and to my (admittedly limited) knowledge, neither party left the scene thinking anything other than 'oh good. another bike. that's a good thing'.

Keep riding.

Yep as I said Arallsopp, just a bit of banter, but thanks for a well reasoned reply good man.

I have spent 18 months discussing the surface with Westminster Cyclists and the Royal Parks so am happy to see the new surface. I have thanked the Royal Parks as it's a massive improvement. As for the signage, not a majoy problem for goodness sake.

If you use the path regually you will know nearly all keep left and the worst problem is tw*ts without lights and pedestrians straying in without looking.

Good work, i must admit the surface is great, and i may go back to using it ever day rather than battling with the 40mph close overtakes on park lane.
