I'm sure there are national idiot days where drivers, peds, just people in general are total dicks. Must be a full moon on those days lol.
I was beginning to think yesterday was one of those on the way home: everyone was just being a right pest: cars, peds, even a couple of other bikes. Then, I had a nice WVM pull over and let me past on the lane running down into my village: it's only one car wide but a few people seem to think that means a bike can just fly over them, or go through the hedge or something. This nice man moved over for me. I was

resertation in human faith!

anyonther one from yesterday which made me giggle at the image i made up of him. Pull up to some lights using green cycle lane. Curiour on motorbike comes up behind me using the lane, pulls up beside me, and in a heavy Australian voice grunts, "Turning left mate". All he was missing was some corks hanging off his helemt. So question, why use cycle lane if on motorbike, why pull up along side someone who is going straight on across junction if you intend to turn left. So i had no choice to wait at junction while he turned left so I could go right over without being hit by the bushwacker. Made me giggle anyway. (makes up for it is that there is a lovely new road surface with no potholes/roadworks on it yet, hmmmm. smooth)

I hardly notice anymore when blokes on full sus mtb and god awful junkers roll past me and start in front of me in full road gear, what on earth do they think is going to happen when the lights change?

they don't think at all is the answer I suppose

it gets old quick on a series of red lights

4)Don't then expect said cyclist to engage you in polite conversation.
So did he start talking to you politely and you said nothing back to him?

Not exactly. He said ''Hard going isn't it?'' whilst grinning like an idiot and I gritted my teeth and said ''Aye, windy it is see.'' whilst thinking ''And you're making it harder you fockwit.''

In fairness, he didn't annoy me much at all, he just made me wonder at his lack of good sense and gave me something interesting to post about. In retrospect, maybe he was trying to make friends.......

Joking of course. Im new to cycling, after about 6 weeks of commuting/fun riding on my secondhand bike Im starting to feel the benefit. Hills are now not as feared as before my average speed is nearly into double figures and I have lost 10lbs in weight without dieting.

Ive only passed two other cyclists so far ,one was massively overweight and the other was extremely old :-) Common sense really not to impede a more serious cyclist than yourself. The will to live says donT be a RLJ.

lol, maybe i should be clearer. I like the idea of when they try and overtake you stay with them, let them pant and get worn out then look over, smile and just pull away at speed. had a few one sided races from the lights with mountin bikes who think they can pull infront and try and outrun you. funny watching their little legs peddel furiously as you just catch them up and glide past with this look of, hmm, "don't even think about it" on ones face

haha. Wish there were more cyclists on my commute . Though back in Norwich I did occasionally overtake a slow car when the road was completely clear!
