I hope the police take your precious licence off you. You are not fit to drive.

I also hope you lose your job, or it costs you an arm and a leg in taxis/trains.

Why?

Driving 60mph straight at a cyclist (who was wearing hi-viz and using LED lights) and causing then to dive off the road is NOT the level of driving I would see as being acceptable.

Your registration (I hope I got it - I am pretty sure I got enough for the full thing, if not , then a very good partial) is now in the hands of the police, along with a request to make a formal complaint and go to court.

And this is all because YOUR F*CKING journey is more important than MY life. If I hadn't looked up at the last second, I wouldn't have seen you driving straight at me, or had the time to swerve left (into the area that I use as an escape route) then onto the grass.

I am still shaking..................it was THAT close.

Sheet! Glad you walked away CP!

But - Video? Witnesses? You can see where I'm heading with this can't you?

Yikes CP, sounds nasty! Glad you're ok.

When you get a chance to come down a bit (which is totally understandable on the circumstances), let us know exactly what happened, i.e. how did she end up doing this etc.

Give us the plate you think you got, and some of us will try and match it to an actual Focus etc (any more details you have like trim level, engine size will also help).

Can't go into too much detail. Going out on the bike to Jujitsu soon (30 mile round trip), so not much time.

Map

I was riding NE on this road towards Bainton. The TW*T was driving west towards Middleton. It then overtook a car, despite the fact I was in effect the 'oncoming' traffic. I was head down at the time, into a little wind, and only looked up at the last second to see the front of it bearing down on me. I then swerved left across onto the grass as it passed. I then turned round and [fingers crossed] got the right registration number. There were other cars behind it, but I doubt any of them would see it as being worthy of reporting it? I hope they do though, because we could do with one less dangerous driver on the road.

No video.

I have told the police how angry I am about it, and how close it was, and emphasised how it was MY actions that saved MY life, there was NO avoiding action by the car whatsoever - no braking/steering - nothing.

I do tend to look down a bit when riding (especially into wind) and my position was 2-3 feet from the nearside white line. There was no traffic behind me.

That also happened just after I was overtaken by a '60 plate campervan, that passed me INTO oncoming traffic!

Statistically, you are more likely to be involved in a RTC on a Friday afternoon than any other time.

But what am I to do?

I have to work/come home/go to Jujitsu?

What to do instead?

Drive the car?

The registration doesn't come up on the RAC checker.

Erk, no cctv round there ... no witnesses ... your word against theirs ... not a great set up, but a visit from a traffic officer to have a word should shoot them up a bit, and perhaps a check of the mobile phone records should be insisted upon.

This is what infuriates me. I have NO way of protecting myself, or any realistic way of catching them. It's not as if I could get home, get my car and go after them. In a national speed limit they'd be 5-10 miles away, so NO chance of catching up!

Other than paying out on a camera, to watch hours of boring, heavy-breathing-laden footage just in case something happens.
