I guess from your description it was a similar situation to this: [media]

It is something that infuriates me. In my case I reported her to the police and she now has her cards marked.

A camera is a good investment for this sort of thing. You can also use it to improve your hazard perception.

I think CP means the car is heading full on toward you, like there is no where for you to go except off the road if you want to live. When it happens it is scary. There is no time to enter into a discussion shout or remonstrate with the moton, it is purely get out their way or get killed. If as they steam by over where you were a fraction of a second before you get a glimpse of their vehicle's rego or type model colour etc then that is a bonus, but otherwise you are left shaking thinking did they just try to kill me! How long can I keep doing this ............ before I end up dead.

In the above footage the driver clearly saw you and left you some room as he passed although the overtake was born out of impatience, inconsiderate and selfish driving which scared you, you were not forced off the road or your life endangered.

I hope thing work out for you CP.

Fortunately when I've had similar experiences I have been looking up and been able to react in time. The closet I can recall was near the exiting to a village & the national speed limit. A learner driver approached me opposite, he'd slowed down in the village but the driver behind hadn't and overtook him straight into my path. I managed to get out of the way just in time but the poor learner was scared $hitless by the experience.

Least no one forget cyclist and dad Mark Robinson (RIP) who was killed in just such an horrific incident on a road on which I used to ride fairly frequently before the GBW.

http://www.cambridge...d-from-jail.htm

Rice had been travelling along the narrow, unlit country road behind a Fiat Punto and another vehicle in the moments before the tragic smash.

He told police he pulled into the right-hand lane to begin overtaking the cars, but that the Fiat Punto, second in the queue, had also pulled out and he had then followed.

The driver of the Punto then spotted Mr Robinson's cycle coming towards her and pulled in, leaving Rice confronted with a cycle heading directly for him and no opportunity to avoid a collision.

The impact threw Mr Robinson from his bike, causing multiple injuries. Mr Robinson, an experienced cyclist who rode about 13,000 miles a year, was pronounced dead at hospital shortly afterwards.

In a victim impact statement, his partner told how her heart had been "ripped out" at the moment that Mr Robinson died.

But, in Rice's favour, he was described during his sentencing hearing as a man of "exemplary good character" who had never been in trouble with the police and who had shown "deep" remorse.

When that driver passed I was doing a shoulder check at the time, this wouldn't be obvious from the footage as I had the camera mounted to my handlebars. When that driver passed it was really pretty close and it was a needless manoeuvre, in fact it is one manoeuvre that really infuriates me. I cut the sound on the video because of the level of swearing. I was only able to get a rego because of the footage. I have been in a similar situation that is much much worse than this on a motorcycle, I had a w***** in a jag overtake a line of traffic when I was heading towards it at speeds of at least 60mph. I had no choice but to aim the bike into the cycle lane (Which was empty at the time) whilst braking pretty hard, but that was because I had spotted the driver beginning the overtake some distance away. Had I not spotted the driver, I would not be writing this now.

Btw the driver of that micra was female.

And some will work in "loop" mode. So a continuous loop goes around and when something happens you click a button and the last 30 seconds onwards gets recorded. Saves a lot of card space, and faffing trying to find the exact point in the video.

I have a HQR2 recorder, havent used it for a while tbh. Wonder if it has a loop mode? Must have a gander.

To the effin *'b$% you will now be getting a visit from a police officer and spoken to about your actions. Sadly, without independant witnesses (which I knew would happen) it is my word against theirs, so there is no chance of a prosecution.

A video camera WILL be one of my next purchases.

It'll be interesting to know what their version of events is. Presumably the police officer will inform you?

Whoa CP. I have only just read this post. Glad you escaped unscathed, although I'm not sure your other half will relish washing your shorts!

Seriously, I know that road and it does seem to attract a higher than average shoal of eejits. Hope your plods put the fear of all things nasty into his skull.

I think it's the best you could have hoped for given the circumstances. Hopefully Mr Focus will upset plod in some manner and suffer some baton-related inconvenience.

Sadly, I believe the miscreants first thoughts/actions will be denial - 'It wasn't me, it didn't happen'

People cannot be educated if they are not willing to accept responsibility.
