Toast Woes.

Love toast but toasters make such a lot of crumbs. I put mine on a stainless steel tray so I've not got to keep wiping them up as that's not one of my strongest points. My gran used to make toast over her range fire with a toasting fork. It was gorgeous. She always used to bash the crusts too before buttering.

Must get a Dualit next time!!

You know if you butter toast and drop it, it always lands butter side down, and if you drop a cat it always lands on it's feet?

What would happen if you tie a slice of buttered toast to a cat's back and drop the cat?

What I can't figure out is you put bread in the toaster and toast comes out - where does the bread go?

Oh my god! I've never thought of that! I shall worry about it now.

My toaster is the one that came in a set, with kettle and sandwich toaster, given to me as a leaving present when I came to York, 10 years ago. The kettle died, I never use the sandwich toaster anymore, but the toaster gets used pretty much every day, and still works pretty well, although I too suffer from raw top bits if I use tall bread. Fortunately Sainsburys basic loaves fit fine.

My sister has a Dualit, and I have to remember how to use it all over again every time I visit.

A whole cat would be too much for breakfast. Would you grill it first? If it spits at you turn the grill down.

This is my toaster a Russell Hobbs Classic 4 slice toaster. It works a treat.

The toast comes out just as in the pic nicely evenly toasted every time. Browning is easily controlled. Thin, thick, long, short or frozen slices. Crusts are especially nice with Marmite or thick cut marmalade or home made blackcurrant jam .

Jeez, lights just dimmed momentarily! All you CCers must have just loaded up your toasters and switched your kettles on.
