If you are coming from the North, I would advise parking in Crosby/Aintree/Southport/Ormskirk/Maghull - anywhere really that has a Merseyrail railway station. I live in Crosby and it would be very easy to park near ( <2 mins walk) to Blundellsands train station and then it is a 12 minute train journey into the centre of Liverpool. On Sundays trains run every 30 minutes.

I've just been out for a ride and the road signs are out. Access to the waterfront from Jericho Lane to Riverside Drive will be blocked on Sunday from 0500 to 2000. That rules out the Garden Festival car park. I'd head for one of the Merseyrail stations.

I've just been for a spin around Sefton Park and down the front and it's exciting seeing all the signs and the Sky ride set up. Going to get up at 6 and have a spin around the closed roads, the advantages of living just off Parliament Street!

I had no idea there are so many scousers on here.

I cycled past earlier, and it looks lots of fun. I live near Wavertree Technology Park, just off the M62 end, and it's a good location for anyone parking and training it in. Last time there was a big event in Liverpool (the giants - so much bigger) there was a 2-3 hour queue to get back from the Train Station though, so be cautious.

I'm just starting a new commute over the river (ferry/train), does anyone do that and have any tips/preferences?
