All I saw of him was his bonnet as it cut in. Do you honestly think I'd not do all I could to avoid an impact if I could have? You.actually think I'd rather be injured or worse ???

Seriously, of course not, maybe you could have anticipated things earlier and made it more comfortable but as DF points out the driver was still 100% to blame.

This is the problem with cams and near a miss, yes they shake you up but sometimes you have to look at one’s self. I do, every day I judge my cycling and admit to things I could and should have done, it helps me control my adrenaline when rushing to or from work and reminds me how vulnerable I am on a bike.

It’s easy to judge a driver, not so yourself

Don't post footage and moan when people judge the incident.

You were not there.

I honestly think you did not do all you could; freezing the action at 0:21 seconds, what the heck do you think was going to happen at the ped crossing. One car turning right, a black car already blocking the cycle lane and a lorry blocking the lane up ahead. Not a situation to just blast through just because you are in a cycle lane. I didn't see you check over your shoulder when you switched lanes to go around the lorry.

You're clutching at straws now. There's no 'blasting' evident: BoaB slows to let chump complete his turn but is ambushed by his unsignalled lane-changing jink into the cycle lane, without looking over either shoulder or at any of his mirrors, to undertake the right turning car.
But I agree he didn't do all he could: he could've left the bike at home and driven his commute instead. We could all insure ourselves against cycling close shaves by not cycling.

Here's a similar example, with a very different outcome. Good 4x4 driver, and I like to think I did a reasonable job of anticipating this. In fairness to the OP, my situation was much easier to read, and I had far longer to think about it.

Thats why I am lucky there are no cycle lanes in North Wales. The councils say that they are design to improve cycle safety: BOLLOCKS! As we can see in the videos in this thread, they are incredibly dangerous and put you in vulnerable positions (ie next to the kerb). Encouraging left hooks, squeezing against the kerb, dangerous filtering by other cyclists, close passes if you are near the outer edge of the lane, and irate motorists who have a go at you if you are not in the lane.
I friggin hate them and I welcome everyone to come to North Wales where there are none of these facilities just plenty of shared use paths, wonderful hilly routes, and generally speaking smooth roads.
