Today I am sick

Really, properly poorly sick, I've had to call in work and say I can't make it in.
Wouldn't it be nice if they actually said "aw, are you ok/" Instead of making you feel like a major inconvenience??
I can't even take a paracetamol for the pain in my head as I can't hold down the water to take them.
I now expect to be cheered up immensely.

Hope you feel better soon. When I had a job (Self employed now) it really used to tick me off the way that employers try to make you feel guilty for being ill. I had cluster headaches yesterday (my day off) today, a work day, I feel fine. Just typical.

Anyong going off sick here is called the biggest, skiving f**kwit walking ...... and there's no sick pay. Even breaking your leg/arm would be an inconvience and frownded upon.

I don't like presenteeism, for example, I once worked as a viking in that famous establishment in York. A really nasty tummy bug was going round, we worked underground, so had air conditioning. The bug meant that people leaked from both ends, I caught it and a few others did too. I took time off work as I didn't want to spread it any more. When I came back to work my manager said that she was very disappointed with me for taking time off.

It's the same with colds, if you have a stinking cold, stay at home. I tried to work through a bad cold once, doing a physical job outside, I ended up being even more poorly.

You have to think about other people not just yourself. When my mum was poorly before she died, we had to be careful as she became resistant to antibiotics. Calling people "the biggest, skiving f**kwit walking" is not a nice thing to do, would you do that if that person had to take time off to get treatment for cancer?

Not good really, I think modern society needs to change their attitudes to sickness.

I once called in work to tell them that I wouldn't be in and was made to feel like biggest skiver ever and my then manager kept asking me if I was sure I needed the day off as they were really busy. I needed the time to look after my younger siblings as my mother had been rushed into hospital and was unable to breathe, I wasn't buggering off to Alton Towers or owt.
