Today I used a shared cycle path.....

And hit this and destroyed my rims....... Okay I didn't hit it but it was a foot wide and hollow down in a large hole at least 2 foot deep.... I could have almost gone pot holing down it.......

I don't normally use shared paths and I don't think I will in the future much either if this is what they are like..... It was just a busy road and no pedestrians so thought why not....... Bloke came across from the petrol station... Asking if I was alright thinking I had fallen off... Apparently it's been there ages sometimes a cone gets put over it.... Then nicked obviously.....

Going to report it online...

I think it's the hole they used in journey to the centre of the earth......

On a serious note it was just a hollow... It went a few feet in all directions side ways and was at least two foot deep... If a pedestrian had walked in to it they would have a broken leg or hip

As it was so big it was visible far enough a away to miss it... But had it have been dusk..... I might have hit it

Absolutely! You're right, it is pretty visible.

It tends to wash away the substrate leaving an ever bigger and thinner crust.

Some cyclists make too much of a fuss over potholes, but this one is a genuine hazard which could cause serious injury.
