Todays trivial dilemma with the power of procrastination

Well it's that kind of day and there's no one in, besides the dog and he's asleep so I must inflict this dilemma on you and bend to the will of your pronouncement. Well probably not the last bit.

I've grown a beard, it's a young beard so it needs time but I'm not sure I'm keeping it, as it's white and the rest of my heed isn't. Not yet anyhow. Still, I fancy I'm looking distinguished and handsome with it and am not yet ready to shave it off.

But.......today, up popped my passport reminder, which runs out soon and if I'm to renew it I must take a picture and yes you've guessed it, do I want to stare at a bloke with a white beard and a black head who at the moment of the picture fancied it was a good look but a few years down the line, well probably weeks, really wishes he didn't have 10 years of looking at that picture and who will always fancy he can see a look of slight amusement, ranging to suspicion of any customs officer comparing me to my picture.

I mean the current one is of a tired looking bloke, slightly overweight and driving too many miles and working too many hours all with young children, I'll be glad to not be looking at him any more so I don't want another picture like that?

It's like when you were a young lad and bought that really fashionable suit to go to your cousins wedding because you looked the dogs whotsits in it, especially with that cutting edge haircut that you and all your mates had.

Ten years on you look at the photos and realise that your dad now looks more trendy than you did.

I fear the only frivolity will be amongst those who see the picture.

hmmmmm, the moustache is still black but it would be a weak moustache without some foundations under the chin. Shame the foundations are chalk not granite.

Keep it, you'll look distinguished

(actually that way when you finally shave it off border controls in far flung lands won't recognise you and will therefore subject you to a full cavity search)

Keep the beard for the passport photo. It will make the passport easier to sell on the black market.

How about dying the beard to match the head.... then you will be able to look back on how fantastically young you looked when you renewed your passport!!!
