None of you have convinced me. By the 23rd I might still have the beard but no passport.

my son asked me the other day before I accompanied him to his Uni interview day, if I was going to shave. I told him I'd best not in case I was mistaken for a fresh faced young graduate. He didn't seem to think that would be an issue but I didn't want to take the chance of embarrassing a lecturer by telling him I wasn't doing my A levels.

Well it's that kind of day and there's no one in, besides the dog and he's asleep so I must inflict this dilemma on you and bend to the will of your pronouncement. Well probably not the last bit.

I've grown a beard, it's a young beard so it needs time but I'm not sure I'm keeping it, as it's white and the rest of my heed isn't. Not yet anyhow. Still, I fancy I'm looking distinguished and handsome with it and am not yet ready to shave it off.

But.......today, up popped my passport reminder, which runs out soon and if I'm to renew it I must take a picture and yes you've guessed it, do I want to stare at a bloke with a white beard and a black head who at the moment of the picture fancied it was a good luck but a few years down the line, well probably weeks, really wishes he didn't have 10 years of looking at that picture and who will always fancy he can see a look of slight amusement, ranging to suspicion of any customs officer comparing me to my picture.

I mean the current one is of a tired looking bloke, slightly overweight and driving too many miles and working too many hours all with young children, I'll be glad to not be looking at him any more so I don't want another picture like that?
Shave it off and get the the wife to squeeze the blackhead.

I had long black hair on passport when I got one at 21. It had all fell out by 27/28...going through border control inevitably led to questioning and searches til I renewed it and had photo looking like a lightbulb with a face.
Realy was a pain!

Having a radically different appearance buggers up the auto recognition passport gates at I found to my cost on re-entering the UK. I have a beard whereas my passport photo doesn't. I do have a fall back photo on my US visa showing me with a beard but that's not encoded into the e-passport biometric data.

Every cloud has a silver lining though. I was advised by UK immigration to always go for auto recognition as you then get shepherded to the front of the queue of folk choosing to use conventional checking methods.

Boots....;) In both brown or black, good for people with fair hair!

Do they do eyebrow wigs too?
